Here is what is currently beautifying our yard.
This vivid orange flower is particularly exciting. Why?
It is pomegranate! Jim planted several seeds from a fruit we consumed a couple of years ago and this is the first year we are seeing flowers. The only one producing right now is still potted.
The ground pomegranate trees are doing fantastic, but no flowers yet. This dogwood is special too. The tree was a dormant, sad looking one when purchased at a bargain. Now it is doing amazing! The bonus is this empress dogwood is an evergreen in our region.
The ornamental peach tree is producing! These are not quite edible but can be eaten. They just lack sweetness and juiciness.
The variegated Bengal Tiger Lily is unraveling its leaves. The flowers will be following.
Delicious treats for the butterflies are starting to flower.
The elephant ears are beginning to grow. These gain height fast and will be taller than me this summer!
We appreciate weeds here since they are great for the critters. Plus they are pretty in all phases!
The lemon bomb sedum has become extremely vibrant!
Have a marvelous day/evening (wherever you are on the clock)! ~Val
I've never seen a pomegranate flower before! And those lilies are just gorgeous too!
ReplyDeleteI had never seen a pomegranate flower before until moving south. They are so pretty!
DeleteAll gorgeous Val! I agree with Deb, I have never seen a pomegranate flower either! That is a cool picture of the variegated Bengal Tiger Lily unraveling its leaves. Beautiful! Big Hugs!

ReplyDeleteThe pomengranates are fabulous. I never would have thought! And oh! That yellow!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as we learned pomegranates grow here we had to give it a try! It may be another year or 2 until there is actual edible fruit.

ReplyDeleteThe pomegranate tree and the flowers look fantastic, I will try to bury some of pomegranate's seeds too 😊
Thank you Evi! The tree was surprisingly easy to grown since many trees started for us. They probably grow well in LA too.
