Hilton Head Beauty

October was our second annual visit to Hilton Head Island where we enjoyed a dazzling sunrise, gorgeous skies and fabulous flowers.

At first there wasn't much of a show due to the cloud cover.

After a short period of time we were mesmerized.

The clouds really add to the beauty.

The evening skies also have much appeal.

Some kite flying was going on.
The color was constantly changing.

Autumn still sees a delightful variety of flowers on the island.

Then there are these little guys, the sandpipers. Adorable to watch! This first cutie appeared to have only 1 functioning leg but he managed to keep up with the others with some hopping around.

Autumn in the Park

Just some recent November images of Gibson Pond Park in Lexington, SC.
The leaves are so beautiful when we take the time to notice them individually.

After strolling the paved, wooded pathway we headed over the to pond where the residents were chillaxing.

This tree is a favorite of mine and becomes even more fabulous in the fall with her foliage.

Being a wet day, the colors seemed even deeper.

Life is poking out of the water.

Another gorgeous tree here is the coral bark Japanese maple.

The dam was creating soothing music that leads to a mesmerizing scene as the water rushes away.

I wonder which tree will win the battle for space over time here! They sort of look like a happy, quirky couple to me.

The November flowers here are azaleas and camellias.
The azaleas must be encore azaleas since it is not common to see them blooming in November.

A Cute Rescue

This little guy was in the middle of a riverwalk, confused and heading away from the river when Jim luckily spotted him.

He was super tiny. Born recently! He would have been stepped on or ridden over by a bicycle if he was not saved. Being muddy on a walkway with dried autumn leaves around, there was some serious camouflage going on.

Jim put him at the river’s edge so he would not be shocked by the water. He used a leaf to pick him up so that no human oils touched him.

We watched him acclimate to the water and swim off. I wish I filmed him using his little feet to clean his muddy face of. Adorable!
Here is a clip the the cutie swimming away.
