Gibson Pond Park

Gibson Pond in Lexington, South Carolina is back!

New Dam

This dam broke in 2015 and the re-build has just been completed. Below is a before photo I took a couple of years ago. It was destroyed!

Old Dam

Now the pond is filled up!

A marvelous place to relax and enjoy wildlife.

It was dried up and filled with green as shown below in an old photo.

Now the fish can flourish and be fished on the two new piers.

A dock was also built so visitors can bring their canoe or kayak to enjoy the water.

The park has multiple picnic pavilions.
A large pavilion is available for locals to rent out for occasions.
Ceilings fans are a must for South Carolina's summer days.
Adjacent is an outdoor kitchen with a barbeque pit, charcoal grills and a sink.
There are swings for the youngsters (and me).

Swinging benches are also about the park.

A bike rack is available.
My favorite feature here is the paved walk that loops through the woods.
We visited here again on Labor Day for a picnic and it was crowded! Others were picnicking, fishing, kayaking, swinging, walking, bringing their dogs for a swim and more.

If you go, the park is located at 241 Gibson Rd in Lexington SC.

Open daily from 7am - 9pm.

Have a marvelous day/evening (wherever you are on the clock)! ~Val

  1. A big improvement! And a paved walkway through the woods! That must be very handy for people in a wheelchair.
