Scenes from Savannah - Part 1

Since I am obsessed with Savannah, I have numerous photos to share. Here are some random views.

Landscaped squares are throughout the historic downtown providing spots for resting and cooling down from the hot sun.

The huge live oaks covered with Spanish moss are everywhere.

Who is this dude? Why it is Johnny Mercer. He was a singer and songwriter as well as a co-founder of Capital Records. He wrote amazing tunes like Moon River and Autumn Leaves. Being born in Savannah is what lead to this tribute. The huge open area behind Johnny is apparently a splash pad for the kids in the hot months!
Being a creative tourist city, there is no shortage of quirky items around.
There is gorgeous architecture.

Historic buildings.

Plenty of statues.

It is important to look up as to not miss anything.

Forsyth Park is a long walk from the riverfront, but certainly doable.

We walked 7 miles the first day and 10 the second.

Completely enjoyable exhaustion!

Visitors can count on a variety of unique shops and art galleries too.

Being less than a 3 hour drive away, I think my husband and I will find ourselves here on an annual excursion!

Have a marvelous day/evening (wherever you are on the clock)! ~Val

  3. A friend moved there and would love to have me come visit but of course, these days I don't go anywhere. This post makes me want to go all the more -- after seeing this, I'd like to go even if Pat didn't live there!
