The Savannah Belles Ferry transports passengers free of charge from the Riverwalk at City Hall, to the Riverwalk near the Marriot Riverfront, then to the Convention Center on Hutchinson Island.
This green and yellow lady is Mary Musgrove. Mary lived from 1700 to 1765. As a Native American, she worked as an interpreter for General Oglethorpe when the founding of Savannah was taking place.
Above is the Convention Center on Hutchinson Island and below is the adjacent Westin Hotel.
This ride is a fun, free thing to do while visiting Savannah.
It offers an alternative perspective of the historic riverfront.
The port is a busy one with much activity to fill the sense.
It was kind of awesome seeing a barge of containers pass by. My camera battery dyed at this point so I was unable to get a close up!
Here is one of the other cute Belles.
If you go:
The ferry operates 7 days a week from 7am to 12 midnight. Website.
Quite convenient for those staying at the hotel on the island! The Westin also has a golf course and spa for those desiring a break.
Have a marvelous day/evening (wherever you are on the clock)! ~Val
Watch out for riverboat gamblers!
ReplyDeleteHaha! We will have to try the gambling riverboat sometime!
Deletewow, looks like a great place. My favorite boats of all for some reason are tug boats - i follow instagram sites that feature them. Great pics.
ReplyDeleteTug boats are neat to watch in action. They are so tiny compared to the massive barges they tug!
